Terms and conditions

Article 1: lenght of stay

The customer who books accommodation with the owner for a fixed period may not, under any circumstances, claim any right to remain in the premises.

Article 2: Booking formalities

Upon receipt of the reservation made by the customer on the chateaudecholoy.com website, the customer will receive a confirmation email. This reservation confirmation email serves as proof of the seasonal rental contract.

The owner invites the customer to check the details of this reservation:

  • Their contact details, in particular their email address and mobile phone number, so that they can be reached before and during the reservation.
  • The room reserved – the number of people – the arrival date – the departure date – the number of nights.
  • The total price of the reservation, the amount indicated being inclusive of tax, tourist tax included.

By paying at the time of booking, the customer confirms their complete agreement with the general terms and conditions specified below.

Château de Choloy reserves the right to retain the amount paid in the event of cancellation outside the refundable period, no-show, or early departure.

Article 3: accommodation rates

The rates displayed on our website are per accommodation, per night, including breakfast and tourist tax.

Article 4: modification of stay

Any modification to the reservation, date, or room is only possible with the owner’s agreement and may incur additional costs. It will be subject to availability on the date of the modification.

The customer is informed of the specific conditions in the event of cancellation of the reservation before the start of the stay:

100% of the amount of the stay is charged at the time of booking.

In the event of cancellation, this amount is refundable up to 5 days before arrival in high season (July and August), and 15 days the rest of the year.

For any cancellation after this period, in the event of a no-show or early departure during the stay, the full amount of the service booked will be due.

In the event of force majeure or an event beyond the owner’s control making it impossible to carry out the stay, the sums paid will be refunded without any additional compensation being claimed.

Article 5 / Cancellation insurance

The owner draws the customer’s attention to the fact that no cancellation insurance is included in their rates. The customer may take out insurance at their discretion.

Article 6 / Hours

The customer must arrive on the day specified in their reservation, no earlier than 5 p.m. (time when rooms are available and keys are handed over).

Breakfast is served from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Check-out time is between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

Article 7 / Use of the premises, safety, and community living

In order to preserve the peace of the premises and the comfort and safety of guests, everyone is asked to respect a certain “art de vivre” (art of living), which is essential when living in a community.

In particular, guests are asked not to smoke inside.

The common areas (breakfast room, lounge, billiard room) may be used until 10 p.m., and a reasonable noise level must be maintained.

Families are asked to supervise their children during their stay: the apartments and common areas feature antique furniture and objects, some of which are fragile. The grounds of the property have areas that pose a risk: a pond and wells. Guests are also asked not to walk in the wooded area or use the swing when it is windy. The owner declines all responsibility in the event of an accident resulting from failure to comply with these instructions.

Guests agree to leave the accommodation in perfect condition at the end of their stay and to systematically report—and pay for—any damage for which they are responsible.

As the rooms have been carefully decorated and furnished by the owners, guests are asked to respect the items provided. Any damage or disappearance of items that are not reported will be charged to the guest at a later date at replacement value.

The owner shall not be held liable for any loss, theft, or damage to the customer’s personal belongings, including in common areas.

The customer agrees to comply with the property’s rules and regulations. Any behaviour contrary to these rules may result in termination of the stay without compensation.

Article 8 / Pets

Dogs are accepted for an additional fee of €15 per animal per stay, with a limit of two dogs per accommodation. As our property is a communal living space (family, guests, animals), there are a few basic rules to follow. We will provide you with the pet policy on arrival or upon prior request.

Article 9 / Additionnal guests

Room reservations are made for a specific number of people. If the number of guests exceeds this number, the owner has the right to refuse additional guests. This refusal cannot under any circumstances be considered a modification or breach of contract on the part of the owner, so that in the event of the departure of a number of guests greater than those refused, no refund can be considered, and the balance remains due. If the capacity of the house allows it and if the owner so wishes, a supplement may be applied in accordance with the usual conditions.

Article 10 / Amendment of terms and conditions of sale

The applicable terms and conditions are those in effect on the date of booking. These terms and conditions of sale are subject to change at any time without notice. Acceptance of and compliance with these terms and conditions of sale are deemed to have been granted as soon as the deposit or balance has been paid.

Article 11 / Data Protection Act

In accordance with Law No. 78-17 of January 6, 1978, relating to data processing, files, and freedoms, the customer has the right to access and rectify data concerning him/her. The owner undertakes not to transmit the information provided by the customer to other companies or organizations for advertising purposes under any circumstances.

Article 12 / Disputes

In accordance with Article L612-1 of the Consumer Code, all consumers have the right to seek the assistance of a consumer mediator free of charge to reach an amicable resolution to any dispute they may have with a professional. To this end, in the event of a dispute, Château de Choloy guarantees the consumer effective and free recourse to a consumer mediation service accessible by clicking here: https://www.cm2c.net/

In the absence of an amicable settlement, Château de Choloy advises the consumer to refer the matter to the Judicial Court of Nancy.
